Following are a couple of pics of the e-valve system devised by Galen Bird and installed by Tom and Kay Bode. They used conventional Peterson organ pallet valves, with diodes across the pallet valves to prevent electrical kickbacks. The diodes came from Marlin P. Jones & Associates, Inc. P.O. Box 530400, Lake Park, FL 33403-0685. The Item # is 5412 DI (Description: IN4004 1A 400PIV). At the time they were $0.06 each. Galen advises that the midi circuit boards are standard off-the-shelf midi controllers.
The piano is a small 1931 Marshall & Wendell 4' 11" Ampico B grand. As a consequence of the smallness of the piano, the e-valve system is quite crowded.
